Osho-Zen Tarot

I'm a spiritual/paranormal counselor. I use Rider-White Tarot, Rune-stones, Lenormand, and recently I'm using Osho-Zen tarot cards. I find this cards to be very pleasant and full of truth of lessons to be learned. I had to put quite some effort in to learn Rider-White Tarot and Rune-stones especially, however with the Osho-Zen I just have to look at the picture and the word-meaning of the card and the message is clear.

I can advice this to any learning buddhist, to take a card a day and meditate , be mindfull of the message. Nothing really paranormal about it, just a great way to get closer to buddhahood.

metta,

How do you feel that this tarot stuff works together with your Buddhist practice? Seems like a very interesting combination

No offense, but it sounds a bit New Agey. Also, when I hear the name Osho (Rajneesh), it raises a red flag for me.
  • Interesting. Do you lay them out like a regular tarot deck in your practice, and use the commentary from the instructions, or as an abstract meditation focus?

    Well,
The cards respresent spiritual meaning/lessons, such as The fool, Existence, Creativity, Healing, Control, Slowing Down, The Miser, Mind, Politics, Breakthroug

I lay them out, in a certain way when I have a question or a problem, to get me inspired, and each day I take just one card, as use it's meanings and concept as a meditation to reflect upon.

Working with these kind of cards is also called intuitive psychology.

The Osho-Zen card do have a lot in common with the Rider-White Tarot and such, they are just from a Zen/Buddha perspective.
I do not believe in our fait laid out in the universe. I do believe in 'core-life-values' , alias archetypes, wich live in all human beings, and using these cards is just a way to meet them and to understand them a bit better. Helping to understand myself a bit better and those around me.

    Fair reminder of the path.
But after a while, the raft has to be abandoned.....
  • agreed.

For my job as a spiritual councellor (next to my whole re-schooling thingy) it's a great way to let people meet with the Buddhist/Zen philosofy.

And meeting people and discussing their problems, trying to help them, dealing with their stuff myself, it's the best school/course in spirituality i've gotten so far.

So I can keep on using it, while not being used by it..right my awesome almighty shining admin light

    (? :P :) )

I had a kabaluh tarot deck. One night when thinking of Buddhism I drew three cards. Each of the three was the blank card for if you lose one. So three blank cards all in a row. This was significant to me because I had been thinking of three awareness qualities, meaningful to me, when I drew.

So I think there can be some parallels between tarot and Buddhism. Anything can be a messenger and it depends how you read it.
