edited June 2012 in Buddhism Basics

Eat healthily and mindfully and don't over-indulge.

Basically what @porpoise said. Many traditions also eat vegetarian on any Buddhist "holy" day, and some (usually Chinese/Vietnamese Buddhists, I believe) are wholly vegetarian. But it's not a requirement for Buddhist laypeople (except for the more devout on the aformentioned "holy" days), and even monastics of certain traditions just eat what they're given on alms rounds.

Oh, and some laypeople on special days and all monastics refrain from eating after noon. There was a thread discussing it somewhere on here...

But there's not really any "Buddhist diet," if that's what you're wondering.

I love a little saying that I heard (non Buddhist).
2/3rds feeds a person. The final 1/3rd feeds his/her docter.
