OMG, I am starting the 3rd week of summer camp and I now have both picture and sound. I have a cart of 20 laptops I am taking around to 5 schools to repeat a program at each school. It took until the 2nd week to get the projector. Then it didn't work (the cover was moved about a centimeter into the lens space). I realized that picture was great but we needed sound. It seemed really loud in the office when I tested it out on my laptop, however in front of 20 kids not so much. I am not waiting anymore, and I needed speakers myself, so I bought some for $20. After a few glitches I got it to work.
It is all kinda patched together at this point. I am using my home laptop because my work one will not play the DVD I need, it stopped working the week before camp. My home laptop needs an outside keyboard plugged in because I dumped nail polish remover on the keyboard. Then 3 of the 20 laptops are out of order, I keep calling tech support and they keep walking me through things, and I want them to just pick up the dang things and make them work. It is system thing where 2 sets of computers have the same 'name' in the network therefore don't work. And the 'barely 5's" are learning to hit CTRL ALT DEL (okay we are just doing it for them) but I added tiny stickers to make it easier.
I am excited because for Space week I found Hubble movie station and NASA stuff. For the older kids and literacy week I am writing new curriculum since the one I have is waaay too easy, it includes trying 'man haiku'. We will see.
Now I think if I add any education to what I have it will be for educational technology. I am excited about this summer and maybe by the end I won't need the home phone number of my fave tech gal.
