Buddhist languaging and translations

I've found that a lot of Buddhist terminology is... Well... Foreign. :p And there is a lot of it! And I find myself getting pretty confused. I guess it's like learning any language and it will take time and practice, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a quick reference guide/ list of translations for the terminology?

    A couple of other helpful references are Access to Insight's Glossary of Pali and Buddhist Terms and Nyanatiloka's Manual of Buddhist Terms and Doctrines.

    After quite some years, I still hear new terms from time to time. But luckily understanding Buddhism isn't an examn on terminology. :p

    Definitely glad it's not a test. I would fail. Really badly. Especially if pronunciation was involved :p

    Yes, I know what you mean! But it is worth getting familiar with some basic terms, because people translate and interpret them in different ways ( and not always correctly ).

    Yeah, I found the biggest reason cited for not translating them is that they lose their original meaning when they get translated, because we don't have a word that is equal to it and that translates directly.

    So that makes sense to me.

    It's still a lot of words though :p
