What different types of Buddhism is out there?

I am new. I have been studying and (trying) to practice Buddhism for about a year now. I know basic fundamentals such as 8 fold path, 4 noble truths, the Buddha's history.. I want to know now what types there is?

    I usually think that depends on how many practising Buddhists there are.

    There are three primary branches that I know of:

    Theravada (School of the Elders)
    Mahayana (Great Vehicle)
    Vajrayana (Lightning Vehicle), known more as Tibetan Buddhism

    There are schools/traditions within the branches. For instance within Theravada there's the "Thai Forest" tradition and within Mahayana are "Zen" and "Pure Land", and so on.
