Craving.

edited August 2012 in Meditation
My cravings in sequence of experience:
1. I'm confronted with a situation that I usually indulge in some sort of pleasure (e.g. drinking soda, beer, smoking a cigar)
2. I immediately get a flash of the object I'm craving in my head. I imagine having it.
3. My mouth starts watering.
4. Sometimes, a sense of anxiety, even irritation, pervades me due to abstaining.

I think there's more, but I haven't pinned down all the little switches that get flipped when I feel craving. Recently, I've been able to recognize and drop these fixations by escaping into the moment, so to speak. I, simply, observe them all moment-by-moment and wait for them to pass.
