A Day Off

Ahhh yes, what a wonderful and beautiful day it is. Chores/tasks have been completed, the weather is good, you have free time on your hands, what more can you ask for? I had a similar day today, before today I was in a hellish dark rut for a while, something I get into now and then. However I pushed my ass out of the door and went to school. I connected well with an older Swiss couple in my Thai class and on the way home had a few conversations with people I know of. I got home and thought to myself "I am going to have a day off today, the Dhamma/Buddhism can wait for today." Then I reflected on this thought, actually no it can't. Even if you decided not to do a formal meditation sitting or whatever ritual the Dhamma is there every single moment of your life with it's impermanence and suffering, it's willing to lure you into states of attachment and desire. So in fact lay people of this site, there are no days off, life and living is the Dhamma and we must try to see and recognize it as it flows and evolves eternally.

OK, but do I get time off for good behaviour? :D

You get a gold star if that makes you feel better  And if you act the opposite it is a kendo stick to the back of the head for you!
