Namaste

Do people in India still say "Namaste" as a greeting to each other or is it a bit of an old fashioned thing?

I work with a number of Indians and wondered if it would be appropriate to say it to them as a greeting.

I know several Indian families here in the US, and they still say it when they wish to be a little more formal and share their culture.

I know quite a few Indians and it seems that mainly the older generation use it, although if you're a younger person speaking to an older person, you may use it as well. I don't think Indian twentysomethings would use it with each other... at least I haven't heard it (and there are a lot of Indians here in Vancouver).
