His Holiness Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche Confers Initiation in Europe

edited February 2013 in General Banter
I would just like to share that H.H. Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche was recently on a teaching tour in Europe - in Switzerland, Austria and Italy. H.H Trijang Rinpoche is a 30 year old incarnation of a great master. In his previous lives, H.H. Trijang Rinpoche was Candrakīrti, Śāntarakṣita, Atiśa Dīpaṃkāra Śrījñāna, Geshe Lang-ri Thangpa Dorje Senge and many more highly attained lineage masters.

About H.H. Trijang Rinpoche's most immediate previous life:
One of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist Masters of the twentieth century. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang is His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama's philosophical assistant and later His junior tutor for more than forty years along with the senior tutor Kyabje Ling Rinpoche. Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang was one of the great disciples of the late Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche.

The spread of Dharma in the west is directly and indirectly associated with Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, through his own teachings and through his many eminent disciples. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang was born on March 10th, 1901. Through his precious activities and extraordinary teaching method he benefited the Buddha's teaching and countless beings. Up to the end of his life, he continuously turned the wheel of Dharma for the sake of all sentient beings until he breathed his last. His Holiness Trijang Dorje Chang passed away at the age of eighty one, leaving behind his great teachings and written works. All the first generation Geshes and great Rinpoches of the Gelug tradition who have been responsible for spreading the Dharma in the west were his disciples.

He is now back and continuing his previous life's work, which is very exciting. See the three videos of his recent tour and the many photographs at http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/trijang-rinpoche-confers-initiation-in-europe/.

Trijang Chocktrul will spread the Dharma far and wide in this age !
  • Tremendously great news isn't it? I was a bit concerned when he disrobed a while ago but I should have known better that a great master like Trijang Rinpoche reincarnated only to spread the Dharma and nothing else. The videos are just awesome. Thanks for posting it.
  • @caz yes i can't wait for HH Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche to travel more and spread the Dharma more... he has just begun. I am anticipating great Dharma teachings and work from this incarnation.

@Dulzie_Bear i believe HH Trijang Rinpoche disrobed because of the Dorje Shugden issue. He would rather give up his robes than be subject to the ban on Dorje Shugden practice and has been quietly biding his time.
  • @WisdomBeing: Yes I got that information from the Dorje Shugden website and to me, it seems very strange and unfair to be forced into a corner where that is the least harmful action to take. I was just wondering that if they can do that to Trijang Rinpoche who is such a well recognized and respected lama, then how much worse it must have been for the ordinary worshipper of Dorje Shugden. Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche's example shows that the robes do not necessarily make the Dharma and there are many who wear robes and yet do not benefit the Dharma.
  • @Dulzie_Bear it is interesting that there are several prominent incarnate lamas now who are in lay clothes:
    - Lama Osel, incarnation of Lama Yeshe, founder of the Federation of the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT)
    - HH Trijang Rinpoche of course
    - Telo Rinpoche, head of Kalmyk Buddhists and the incarnation of the Mahasiddha Tilopa
    - Gesar Tulku, son of Chogyam Trungpa

Perhaps they will reach a different crowd by not wearing robes because people are so quick to judge how a monk should and should not behave.
