Oh My God movie

yesterday i saw a movie named - Oh My God . even though its name is in english words, it is a Bollywood movie starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar and the language of the movie is Hindi. i found it a nice movie and thought of suggesting you all to watch it, if you can find it with english subtitles. the theme of the movie is against the rites and rituals of the religions specially Hinduism, as the main character is Hindu.

i found that the movie has some nice statements in it - like - where there is religion, there cannot be truth and where there is truth, there is no need of religion there. in the movie, the interviewer asked the main character - what does he think that religion does to a human being? and the answer which the main character gave was - from his point of view, religion makes a human being either helpless(in sense of fearful and not believing in their self) or a terrorist.

it is not a Buddhist movie, as Akshay Kumar plays the role of Lord Krishna in it. but the movie has some insightful statements in it, like - Akshay as Lord Krishna says - do not deprive people of their religion because if you do deprive people of their religion, they will make you as their God. seems like this happened with Buddha, as Buddha kept on teaching find your refuge inside you and leave these rites and rituals - instead later people made him God in a way and started worshipping him - this was said in the documentary film The Buddha. this is not to say that all Buddhists treat Buddha as their God, but i think there are lay people following Buddhism as their religion and having Buddha as their God - i can be wrong here, but i think this is the case as in some dhamma talks Ajahn Chah said that lay Thai people asked for his blessing to get worldly rewards(so it seems that those lay people would be considering Buddha as their God, because of not understanding Buddha's teachings completely).

anyways, i have not raised this thread to discuss whether lay people consider Buddha as their God, but I have raised this thread to share this movie information with you all, thinking some of you might be interested in watching this movie.
