Well I can bet almost anything that it's a common folklore that all Asian Chinese regardless of religious inclination will know, famous in Asia among races even if I must say...

But I sorta was wondering, while I was watching a TV adaptation of the novel today... How many non-Asian Buddhists have heard of this beautiful epic before?

OK oh no... Look I'm not drunk but really I swear it's all about this very interesting monkey with his fellow disciple a pig and a croc escorting their teacher this very kind monk to India to collect the Scriptures back to China.

Hmmm... Sounds drunk? LOL... But yes, it's a classical legend on how the first Buddhist scriptures were ever spread from India to China.

The complete tale... Wow, it looks like it's really little known around Westerners...

Brigid....he's referring to me...It's one of those long stories best reserved for the 'Dark and Stormy Night' moments Snoopy was so fond of.....

I heard that the novel form was actually a satire of Taoism, how Buddhism was able to do things (like taming the monkey) which Taoism absolutely couldn't!
