Funny to watch kids walk home from school

About a month ago I saw a kid sprint jumping presumably from sidewalk square to sidewalk square. It reminded me of things I would do walking home.

Just now I saw a kid pick up a snow or ice ball and throw it up and then hit it with his forehead. Very funny.

Those were the days, huh? I miss those days, walking to school, listening to my walk man...:( Or just meeting new people while walking...

  • In another thread about handy words that do not exist in English the word Gigil comes to mind. It is ,"the urge to pinch or squeeze someone unbearable cute."

Through my experience and work with babies and small children, I've realized that they are living examples of what we strive for in mindfulness. When we, as older people, experience joyful mindfulness, we bring to it a better understanding (which children have not yet acquired), which also limits our experience of the being-in-the-moment-joy.

My understanding is that as we learn to fear, we become farther removed from this type of joy. It takes meditation and openness that we have to practice to bring us back closer to our pure, innocent joy.

I hope more people can watch others experiencing joy like you did, @Jeffrey. When we watch others experiencing joy, it brings joy to us. We can enjoy the moment of someone else enjoying the moment.
