There's a really good series on youtube, taken from Taiwan TV, on the life of Xuan Zang, a monk who travelled by foot from a monastery in western China, through the oasis towns of the Tarim Basin/Taklamakan Desert, over the Pamirs, down into Afghanistan to India, to study at India's renowned Buddhist centers. He wanted to read and study the Dharma in the original Sanskrit, and bring the advanced teachings back to China.
The Taiwan series was pirated from a feature-length film made in the PRC, but the Taiwan version is better. They intersperse shots of archaological sites that are the remains of the cities and towns the monk travelled through. It's really entertaining and hugely informative!

I have watched it in Hindi. It is a typical Indian historical melodrama. Whether it is good or not will depend on your preference but personally i was not impressed.
Beyond episode 36 it gets better......Because buddha gets enlightened and starts preaching....
