Koirala urges Lamas to spread peace message

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has urged the lama priests to disseminate for the peace and stability of the nation while publicizing the Buddhism.
Talking to the Lama priests, the participants of the 31st Lama Des Darshan (countrywide visit) Programme, at his residence in Baluwatar this morning, PM Koirala said the government is willing to develop Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha not only as religious shrine but also as the tourist destination.
PM further said the government is active enough to develop Lubmini and Sagarmatha as major tourist destinations.
Meanwhile, Minister for Local Development, Rajendra Prasad Pandey informed that the efforts are being made for establishing Boudha University in the 18 ropanis of land that the government bought in 2031 BS to construct central monastery to establish a school of Buddhist education and to promote the Buddhism.
On the occasion, wishing lasting peace in the country, Lama priests had revered PM Koirala proffering him a shawl chanting mantras as per the religious rite.
There is a tradition of taking Lama priests in a tour to religious shrines and culturally important places in different districts across the country.
Altogether 38 Lama priests from 18 districts are participating in the tour to be organized under the Ministry of Local Development.
At the meet, the Lama priests expressed their worries that the durable peace has not been established and the donation drive is still continued.
