HHDL's eldest brother has died in Bloomington, Indiana, USA, at the age of 86.
Although himself a tulku and abbot of Kumbum, he was released from his vows in 1950 and became his younger brother and Tibet's travelling representative.
Although he and the Dalai Lama came to disagree over the way forward for Tibet, I offer his widow and children and his revered brother deepest sympathy on the loss of such a committed kinsman and activist.
