I wonder sometimes what I remember, how does personal memory fit in with the absence of self?

    The self is not non-existent. This is not the meaning of the notion: it is contingent and has no independent existence - this is what it means. Memory is part of this assembly and is part of the chemical make-up of the body/mind.
