Hello all
I've been a lurker on newbuddhist.com for some months now and the words of many here have helped me make great progress in my general practice. After ten years of hard critical thought and three years down the Buddhist path in particular, tonight will see me enter my first sangha in search of guidance and inspiration from fellow practitioners (including my wonderful mother-in-law, my escort and a long-time Buddhist). I'm excited, a bit nervous and, most of all, delighted for the opportunity to be exposed to like-minded teachers and practitioners.
In the meantime, in beginning to make this forum my online home for Buddha-inspired chatter, I want to thank each and every poster here for their wisdom - my time spent on this forum has helped me to garner more human points-of-view on the topics of the path in general and enlightenment in particular then I could have possibly predicted.
Of particular note are posts by Frizzer (you helped me create my first and only mala without even knowing it!), federica, Palzang, Jerbear and many more whose names fail to come to mind at the moment. Thank you all very much for taking the time to add your insight to this forum for public consumption - I hope my future offerings here are half as helpful.
Cheers from Canada!

You're ripe for the initiation rite....
20 laps naked round the frozen pond, yelling at the top of your voice:
"Not-self is not chilly! Not-self is not chilly!"
Welcome and thrice welcome to you!
Very kind words....
I hope your journey is blissful, trouble-free, joyous and enjoyable!
Nice to meet you!
....tea....?

I'm so glad you've been finding this resource of some help in your journey.
You know, you're pretty close (relatively and speaking as a Canadian) to Gampo Abbey which is where Pema Chodron teaches. It's on Cape Breton, I think on the north end of the island.
It's lovely to meet you and I hope your journey continues to be fruitful.

Cheers to Buddhism - its wonderful and quite heartening to see (even here, virtually) so many minds generally at peace and striving for wisdom!
