Buddha and meditation

edited July 2009 in Buddhism Basics
Hi all,

did the buddha still meditate after enlightenment? I read that his teaching was a raft, so it was useful to reach the other shore but once reached, it can be abandoned. Did the Buddha still practice the dhamma when having gained enlightenment and nirvana, and if yes, why did he do so (carrying the raft around at the other shore seems pretty useles to me)

    What is the raft?

And yes Lord Buddha continued to meditate, probably always.

Nihilist, you don't understand the raft analogy, and you don't understand enlightenment. I suggest you let the question be for a while and practice. The issue will clarify in time.
