Catch a serial killer...?

edited November 2009 in General Banter
I just saw this movie about the infamous Zodiac killer. I looked it up and found out that he was never caught?
Interesting I thought...I looked into a few more things and apparently he has left an 'unofficially' unsolved cipher..the 340 cipher. I'm trying to figure it out..

Attachment not found.

it's possible its read backwards..inverting the color helps a bit..
It freaks me out a bit because I used a cipher like this in high school, similar very similar to this, with some of the exact same weird characters..I would make a "W" an "M" , a ">" would be an "A", my "i or I's" were really "O"s. my "C"'s would look like HIS circles with crosses in them because "C" reminded me of "Christ", my "Q"s would be like his "O"s with lines through them..and much more...weird I thought because I came up with mine before I ever heard of this or knew what ciphers and cryptology were.

anyway he had his ....or hers....first cipher solved, the same way someone would solve mine.. I remember thinking about mine, what if people just looked at the symbols and noticed that 2 would repeat in the middle of a word like "BOOK" id write it lets say "QiiM" they'd eventually be able to solve it...then naturally I thought "well if I wrote it backwards like Japanese style...they'd have trouble", but more than that I'd correct "Book" by making two characters or more for the letter "O" so i could write "Qijm" and that meant book...

hmmm:rolleyes: try to solve it, I'd like to know what this guy wanted us or someone to find out.

also i assume he's right handed by his circle at the bottom...left handed would go the other way i think..

The fact that only this one was never solved makes me wonder if it's nothing but a bunch of gibberish. ;)

In any event, I think they feel that they DO know who it was at this point. I believe he died a while back.

only his DNA, finger prints and hand writing didn't match..not to mention If i was like this guy I would- before I died, confessed or at least gone on one more rampage.

then again this guy is a 'reaper', who thinks something like taking lives, puts them in his personal bank, for use in the afterlife..maybe if he was lethal injected or caught it would foil his plans...

I have a theory, wasn't Manson alive during his time? I would check prison records to see every visitor of Manson...one of them was the Zodiac...or...if he was clever he'd find a way maybe...get a job as a prison guard,.mail.....something like that..if I was a master serial killer I'd want to meet the other famous ones and maybe it would get my rocks off to see them behind bars while I'm flaunting my freedom in front of them... I wouldn't be able to resist. Either that or the Zodiac moved to Japan.

    It's back to front.
The cyphers he sent, were photocopied back to front.
    That's how he confused people.

So a serial killer wants to show off how skilled he was and get the last laugh by leaving behind something to puzzle us forever? Not only that, but trying to do your best to solve it would more than likely "legitimate" himself in his own eyes?

    Burn it.
