Ok,
So I have read around the forums on this topic and I feel unsure about it as it applies to my specific situation.
My wife and I live in a very old house for new age standards, over 100 years old. We having been having a problems with what I think are fruit flies. They started outside, in little swarms and have seemed to make their way through our back door and into our kitchen. We run a photography studio and that is the door that clients come through, we figured they got stuck on their cloths and hitched the ride.
I have made traps for these little guys that consits of a mason jar filled with sugar water and a "bad" piece of apple that is all covered by saran wrap with a small hole for the little buggers to fly into but not out of. I then took these guys out to the woods and opened it up freeing those who I could, some got into the water and died but the most stayed on the apple and lived.
I have trapped around 20-30 of these guys and released them, but we always come home only to find that many if not more in the kitchen again.
It's a test of patience and a labor of love to catch and release these guys but I don't mind doing it.
The bigger question in my mind is what can I do that doesn't kill them but removes them all. I fear I have racked my brain and can't find anything this side of bug spray to remove them. With clients coming in and out all day I fear it makes us look unclean and could hurt our livelihood.
So, I ask the collective mind here, what is best, what would you do, and what would you suggest to do?

LoL, I have so tired that allready! These little guys are a trip. There is nothing in the kitchen sitting out that they could be eating. They hang out in the sink a lot I presume drinking the little bits of water that seem to always be there, but I would think they need something more to survive.
Their instincs have shown me a lot though, I watch them every day and they never seem to not know why they are doing what they are doing. In so many ways they have shown me things, but we live in a place and time that they make us look unclean. I would not worry this much but I fear it makes our busniness look bad.
I will keep trying this though fivebells, I hope it works
There might be something down the drain that is stuck there and they are feeding on it etc.
try a good thorough drain cleaning.
Also scrub the trash bin and the area around the trash bin in the kitchen and make sure all the trash is sealed in a good bin, if you haven't already done so. This will help as well.
