I think that summaries are an extraordinarily good way of putting the point across - providing people don't stop there.
I think it is as important to read, learn, absorb and cover as much as you can, in as vast quantities as you can take, but also to hone it down - even to the simple size of the single word I used to have in my signature...that 17 into one, will go.....

(The Four, the Eight and the Five can be reduced to one single directive.....Simplify.)

    Thanks 4 the feedback.

If people were interested inmore detail on the path, I would recommend "Awakening the Buddha Within". I have been re-reading it after a long gap and it is excellent.

I've read the Awakening trilogy, and no matter what people may say about Lama Surya Das, he's got a way with words and a method of communication that I believe is instrumental in reaching the parts other Authors are not quite as successful in reaching.

"A book is no less worthy for being amusing, and no more scholarly for being dull".

I don't know who said it, but it's true.....

Yes, I am continually amazed at the range of verdicts on a book! The majority liked it though. Just goes 2 show it's all in the eye (or the mind) of the beholder.

Lama Surya Das is one of my favourite authors for the reasons you mentioned, and Awakening the Buddha Within is on my desk at work as I write this, it's always a good read when I have a moment to spare.

Just thought people might like this site - it is searchable and gives a extra random quote everytime you click on a quote:

I have to say I have had to reassess Lama Surya Das of late. He has seemed to mature a lot in the last few years. The ability to change and to admit past mistakes is a sign of good character, so I have new-found respect for him and would heartily recommend him.
