Views and thoughts?

He is not a re-incinarted Buddha clearly, but for a 15 year old boy, he has a beautiful gift and has reached levels of meditation many of us could only dream of.

Indeed, the very notion of "Buddha reincarnated" defies absolutely EVERY Buddhist doctrine. He doesn't even claim enlightenment, anyway. He has no doubt achieved high levels of meditation, but he has been turned into a local myth (such as "he doesnt eat or drink" and "Buddha reincarnated") to attract tourists, i.e. money.

He looks very plump and well for someone who is supposed not to have eaten for years. It was also revealed somewhere that nobody is allowed to see him or film etc at certain times..... when he has his meals perhaps ?

Nice looking boy - and obviously a big tourist attraction.

Thats what I thought, but even to sit ALL day and then to have food and water after nightfall is amazing on its own. But after all the tourist attraction got too much he left for the jungle for peace, everyone thought he had been kidnapped, but he emerged last year an 18 year old and gave a very inspiring teaching (translated on google). And for those who watched all ten parts on youtube, what about that man who hadnt eaten or drunk water since he was 12! They studied him 24/7 for 10 days and he defied all biological science.

    Of course. :)

What was the man's name again? I watched it all but a while ago. I do know that the people who did the documentary put up a picture of Thich Quang Duc's self-immolation when discussing "accounts of spontaneous combustion during meditation," so honestly I wouldn't take their word for it.

Not too sure but its in there somewhere lol. Yeah unfortunatly in the era we live in its very hard to have an opinion of these things without any evidence apart from word of mouth.

But also we westerners are naive in the sense that because we can 'pull the science card', we miss what the human body/mind can achieve because 'science told me thats not possible'.

If he attain enlightenment within this 6 years retreat, he will be of great benefit to many people. He will surely have many students :) (he already is worshipped as a god by so many people)

Very interesting. I would hope that those who claim he doesn't eat or drink have the integrity to be honest, as it is very inspiring. What makes me so skeptical is that they are using him as a tourist attraction and collect money.
