Something had been bothering me

I have had something bothering me for a few weeks. The problem was I didn't know what it was. Work has been going pretty normal, my personal life is good and busy, relationships w/ my lady friend and my family are great, I have never been in better physical shape, and the spiritual aspect seemed pretty strong too (relatively speaking); so I couldn't figure out what was bothering me. I decided to meditate and wait for an answer in my mind.

A few months ago I noticed a mole on my ribs that looked kind of funky but I hadn't really given it much thought since then. As I was meditating this morning I had a feeling I needed to call a physician but I didn't know why or for what. When 8 o'clock rolled around I called my doctor who randomly enough had an immediate opening. I went in and she did the usual physical and my mole popped in to my mind so I had her check it out. She expressed concern and took a biopsy. She believes it may be cancerous so they are going to remove it. The good news is that she said it is only on the superficial layer of epidermus so if it is cancerous it most likely hasn't spread.

The point to this thread is first to express relief (no more troubles in my mind right now); second, pay attention to what your body and mind tell you; third, I wanted to express gratitude for my life. Moments like these are real mind openers.

Namaste

Wow what a story. Good going in having the confidence to act and the mindfulness to see what was bothering you. I hope you have a great recovery.

Yes agree that it's a great story and very inspiring too. I have been slipping on my practice lately so this came out as a knock on my door to keep at it. Increasing mindfulness can do wonders you know. Btw. Glad you are fine and I wish you good health... :)

Good for you. I'm glad you had this taken care of instead of ignoring it.

You can't mess around with things like this. I noticed that I had a small, odd looking mole and I went to the doctor immediately as well,

He said, "That's yer junk, man!"

    :(

good news and bad news. It was cancerous but I caught it earlier enough that they believe they cut it all out. Four stiches later.

I'm so happy to hear that, QW.

My papa has had 5 or 6 cancerous growths removed from his skin (face, back, chest) and his dermatologist told him that it was pretty normal for someone his age (in his 70s) and his skin type. It all depends on the type of cancer though. But as long as we're vigilant these things can be managed pretty effectively.

So glad they got all of it, QW. Thank you so much for the update too.

I'm glad you're going to be OK :)
My dad's dog has a tumor, but she's going to have it removed, I don't if she'll be OK though, my grandma died of cancer when I was four and my nan's dad died when she was seven :(

Thanks for all your support. I am sorry to hear your chest problems slow you down Joe (They do for me too but my problem lies with my girlfriend's chest ;) )

My cancer is basal cell carcinoma which is the most common of skin cancers and least deadly especially if it is caught early enough. I get to take my stitches out tomorrow so I hope it leaves a cool scar as a reminder to put on more sun block.

Both my brother and father had the same type of skin cancer (they have/had much fairer complexions than me), and both were successfully treated. That kind of cancer isn't usually a problem. It's melanomas that are often deadly.

Well I have the occasional chest problem but recently I had it bad so I have to take my steriod enhaler twice a day or I'll have big problems when I'm older.
You're a bit more fortunate in your 'problem' Quiet Witness
