Well, in reality they're not really all that nice. You certainly don't want to be under a flock of them when they fly over!

You might also want to read a book by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche called "The Myth of Freedom". But it is good to get out on your own and start living your own life. Naropa would be a good place to do that as they have a lot of different programs, and they're big on the experiential side of things. That's what attracted me to their psychology program. It was mostly experiential rather than book-learnin'.

So yesterday I went into a major town and happened to pass a buddhist centre. I have never seen one before so I was rather happy. :) Thought I'd share.

Mine was good :). I got a lot of community service in at some local elementary schools, which was nice! :D I took my cats to the vet and all are really sick, one has phemonea, so I am glad I was able to get them in. I am in love with all my animals, hehe. I also had time to play guitar, which I have not had time to do in quite some time, so that was also rather enjoyable. I am just getting over a cold, thankfully--I hate being sick! :)
I hope you get better soon!

Sorry, I've been more worried about getting the sidewalk cleared (heavy!) than getting pix. However, if you want pix, go here. That should keep you busy for a while/few days! You might also notice that the lobsters grow especially big around here...

BTW, is your dog chewing a piece of liver, or is that his/her tongue? :)

    How about yourself?

Oh nice! :) Very admirable. I have a little brother, a bit older than you, and I could not imagine him ever taking such an interest in anything like this! Though, to be fair, all he does is play games... it's still very nice that you are interested in such things as this though :D.
I have been interested in buddhism for awhile now, though never had the means or motivation to actually start practicing it. And in all honesty, I didn't even know you could follow the religion as a lay person. It is interesting, when I first heard about it, I found the basic ideas of it intriquing, though the way my school (christian) teacher presented it was in a negative way, so it made me think that buddhism was a caveman like belief system. Not "modern", yet I think the precepts and suttas are, though old, more modern than a lot of other beliefs now-a-days. (Modernly applicable that is).

Hehe, I don't think I ever seen someone actually say 'piss off', well not really at least, maybe in a book or movie... haha. :P
Well whatever, he probably just wants to play! hehe!

She said that as a Christian? LOL They used to burn witches and stone non-Christians, very modern hehehe. Yeah, but we're not all old-fashioned. I once went on a Christian forum and it just wasn't a peaceful place. All the kids my age seemed a bit snobbish...

Hey, you're not supposed to mention that! Shh...
It's funny how if you bring that up with a Christian, they will say it is in the past, that is (no longer) who they are. Yet, a lot of Christians view buddhism as "ideal worshipping, pessimistic, old-fashioned people" Hmm... :P Double standards, anyone?:lol:

Hehe, there was a christian girl in my History class awhile back who was saying that all muslims are violent when it comes to protecting their religion... hello crusades?! Hmm... any ideas?

How Christianity benefits the world. Call it that, try to see the good parts of things. Have you seen 'Christianity: A History' ? On the advert it says it has a bloody past and an uncertain future. But of course that isn't very optimistic,

No jellybean (? haha)! I have to present it to my class, they would think I am Christian... where I am not saying I am not christian, I rather not give off the idea that I am either! lol.

How about "Christianity-- a history of love and acceptance?" Bah... I don't know, I need some ideas on how to incorporate the Haiti's thing with the X'ians not wanting to help due to the people being 'devil worshipers'. I have changed my topic too many times, and I need a legit one! ARGH!

By the way, do you go to a buddhist centre or anything?

LOL, anyway, call the project 'Christianity from a Buddhist pospective'. And then, using your Buddhist beliefs lecture the class about parts of Christianity you agree and disagree with :) And no I don't go to a centre because I'm embarassed... for some reason. Or maybe I'm embarasses to take my mum. Or maybe I can't be bothered... I'll look into it though...:)

Hahahah... ugh... I can't do that either. I won't openly admit, unless I am asked, that my views are buddhist. I don't tell people I am buddhist, nor that I am christian, nor any other religion. :P
Though that does sound like a good idea! I could do "Jesus vs. Buddha, are the religions closer than we think?" BUT... I don't know if the teacher would like that, or if I would actually be able to present that without getting boo'ed out, hehe.
  • Love-N-PeaceLove-N-Peace Veteran

Jeremy Kyle is a hypocritical talk show host who gets a group of 'humans' that evolution sicked up to 'resolve their differences' AKA Do some well rehearsed shouting at each other while being booed or clapped at. A person in the audience always 'happens' to know somebody there and by the end everybody is no better off and they try to pass it off as a factual TV show.

I don't watch it anymore either, Now, but South Park was very good when it first came out. Like most shows that have been on too long though, like the Simpsons, it has lost some of its edge. But there were several classics, including the one where Kenny goes to heaven. One of my other favorites was the underwear gnomes. Perfect rendition of how our fundraising meetings go! (Step 1: steal underwear. Step 2: well, we haven't quite worked that one out yet. Step 3: Get rich!)

Besides, it's not really for kids anyway. Wouldn't expect you to be watching it!

    Palzang
  • edited February 2010
Yeah, perhaps it isn't for kids. Hehe. Yet, I know not of many adults who watch the show! lol.

BUT guess what, the show was based on the middle school I went to! And that crazy bus driver, was our crazy mountain bus driver! And we had who apparently said "mmm k" though he was retired when I came around. My 8th grade history teacher taught one of the directios. Haha... fun little fact. :)

On the earth rich and brown.
Just another Sunday morning in my quiet mountain town.

The sun is shining and the grass is green,
Under the three feet of snow I mean.
This is the day when it's hard to wear a frown!
All the happy people stop to say hello,
    Even though the tempature's low.
It's a perfect Sunday morning in my quiet little mountain town!"
