I love the name Liam, too bad it's so rarely heard here where I live.

I love Liam too, but my mother and sister say it's "so common" now? I personally don't know any Liams.

I like Liam too. Carter and Brice are nice too.

I don't like Atreyu and Bodhi.

Would you be mad if I said Damien reminds me of an horror movie? :P

Nah, my sister said she likes the name but everyone would associate it with the vampire-ish craze. Those damned movies ruin EVERYTHING.

    I like Aiden and Brendon.....either. :)

I don't know why Damien is associated as a Hell name now. It means one who is tamed.

Liam would be my number two on your list.

The Omen. I still love that name though. :(

Atryu is a bad choice... that band sucks.

Never heard of the band. Atreyu's from one of my favourite books.

Also, a name that others (and the child) can spell is nice, I have students with unusual names and they say it's a pain in the butt to always have to correct pronunciation and spelling.

I like Aiden the most. Then Liam and Carter. :)

Atreyu is a very popular metal core band. If you name your kid that he'll probably hear about that for the rest of his life.
They got the band name from the neverending story

I loved having a name that I had to spell for people because if I didn't they'd usually spell it the French way since I was born and raised in Montreal. On my health card in Quebec it was even spelled 'Bridget'. I guess the the Francophone bureaucrats couldn't get their heads around 'Brigid'. But I never thought it was a pain in the ass to have to spell for people. In fact, I got to meet a lot people because of my name. It's always been a great conversation starter.

I love the names Liam and Damien and always smile when I come across them. That's because two of the most beautiful guys I know have those names.

I've always liked the name Brendan too, because of Brendan Behan, although I'm sure there aren't many people who would want their children to aspire to the kind of life he lived. There's also the problem of other kids calling him 'Brenda' to be cruel but spelling it with an 'o' would be a solution to both those problems.

And Brice is a great name although I prefer the spelling 'Bryce'.

    Interesting choices!

By the way, is that an ultrasound of your baby? I've only ever seen one ultrasound of a baby in my life and it freaked the hell out of me because the baby looked like a little skeleton. It's eyes looked like two hollows! I was young then. But your pic looks like a regular, albeit extremely adorable, little baby. I'm dying for it to be a real ultrasound pic.

A big congratulations, by the way!

I agree, I love my name and it never bothered me - and I never once had someone pronounce it right on the first go. XD But people always loved it once they new how to pronounce it.

The ultrasound was edited - I'm a graphic artist. XD the hair was visible and the lips. The eyes and nose were hollow. Sorry Brigid. XD

Awww! Oh well. It's good to know the truth.

I bet the baby will look like that eventually anyway, in real life. While he's sleeping, the sweet wee thing. His little fist curled up and resting on his darling cheek....precious wee guy.

    So happy for you!

My daughter had her 5-kilo-plus, baby yesterday.

    Yup, that's right...5kg+...

His middle name is to honour both my daughter's grandfathers, (who both bore the same name!) and he also carries his own father's family name, as his last name.
But his first name is an abbreviation of MY first name (not Federica!) - although I will hasten to add that this was not given to him for my sake or honour. It was given to him, because his parents like it. And that's absolutely right.

It might stick in my ex-husband's throat though, to have to call his grandson by my name.....:o

Yes, wise and enlightened Buddhists have the power to choose names that are somehow better than what the average man would pick. ;) lol ahahahaha, sorry that was just a good laugh for me. All things being equal, and they are, our opinions on names are no better than anyone else's.

I like Aiden, Damien and Brice/Bryce. If you're in the U.S./U.K./Canada, I would choose a name that isn't too unusual. I grew up with an unusual name and my life would have been much more convenient had I been named Mike or Dan or Nick or something that wouldn't make me dread inevitably awkward introductions and substitute teachers reading off the attendance list.

I've been told my last name is weird. Three letters of my name are 'ear' but people pronounce it 'ar' instead of 'ear' which is annoying

I like Colten how it sounds but it has bad associations with guns ie Colt 45. But still it would probably add an element of danger to his name haha.

I like Demien also but there is kind of a OMEN thing going on. A Herman Hesse Book by the name I believe too.

Bodhi is ok but its a little too much for a birth time. I mean it means 'awake(ning)'. That would sort of be like calling a Christian Grace or Faith. A little much.

    Atreyu? What about Bastian?

Not that it matters now, but from your list I like the name Damien best.

I've always been a fan of simple, old fashioned names. I'm partial to names like James, Matthew, Luke, Aaron, Samuel, Jacob - good old biblical names :D Or maybe George, Robert, Brian, Charles, etc, I've just always liked plain names.

Maybe I'm biased because I personally know the torment of having a name considered "strange" or weird. Thank heaven for legal name changes

I love strange names, if I had a son I'd name his something like Eustace, Oswald, Quentin, Ash. Love those names. For a daughter I'd like Lyndsey, Milly, Molly, Poppy. I prefer "normal" girl names :D
