Needing Help

edited February 2010 in Buddhism Basics
I'm looking for someone to be able to be a mentor for me. I've explored things such as the 4 noble truths and such and have dived in and did some meditation but I want to take it a step further and really try and understand these teachings. My goal is to become a better person through learning, understanding, and meditating. If anyone wants to help, please respond. I'm not too concerned about branches or sects at the moment. When I understand the fundamentals, then maybe.

I made this thread several days ago when I was stressed out not being able to control my "monkey mind". However, I noticed that upon sitting for longer periods of time, as long as I can redirect my thoughts towards my breathing, I seem to get much more out of my meditation. I think I'm ready to start diving into some of the finer points of the Buddha's teachings.

TL;DR You can disregard my first post ;)

Oh I was just about to offer my services. ;) Too little too late I guess.

In reality I am no where near ready to be a mentor. I would suggest you start where teh Buddha did, understanding Dukkha, it's cause, it's cessation, and the path of the cessation of Dukkha.
