New here

edited March 2010 in Buddhism Basics
Hi I'm Kevin and I'm 18 , I'm pretty new to Buddhism and so far I think it's amazing. I know the basics like the eightfold path, precepts, noble truths and I've been meditating twice a day. Could someone lead me in the path of a good website that has alot of information on Buddhism and the teachings and scripts of siddhartha I want to further my learning.

Kevinc, find a qualified teacher, one who lives what they teach. You will learn much more accurately and will understand much more deeply from a teacher than from a book, and a good teacher will correct misunderstandings (something a book cannot do).

Welcome, Kevin! I use Buddhanet.net for various resources. They have alot of stuff. Also, may I suggest a couple of books that have helped me out on my path? The book that originally lead me toward Buddhism was one by Deepak Chopra and was called The Book of Secrets, he gives this really unique and mystic viewpoint on things and it's infinitely interesting (to me, at least lol). Also, another great one is by Thich Nhat Hanh, and called "Peace Is Every Step" He is excellent at relating Buddhism to situations in every day life. I recently ordered another by him, about Buddha's core teachings. If you need anyone to talk to or you're just bored, feel free to message me, Kevin. Good luck with everything!

    Peace
