    Hi the golden eternity,

It is a mistake to regard your mother as a fool - and it is important that you understand that she loves you, and will probably have made many sacrifices on your behalf since the time of her pregnancy.

There are many different fashions and ways of dressing, so who's to say which is "right" or "wrong". Children often tend to rebel against the standards of their parents, I did myself, its part of growing up. When we wish to earn a decent living in society however, we have to conform to the dress requirements of the workplace like it or not.
It is bad for my mental/spiritual well being.

One's own attitudes can be bad for one's mental/spiritual well being.

Perhaps you could try loving-kindness(Metta) meditation ?

    Here's a link.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Kind wishes to you ,

thanks. I'll take your advice. And I do love her. And I know she loves me. But I am getting frustrated. And I know that it is within myself to change my attitudes. But the very act of meditating is criticized by my mother for being weird. I have spoken with her about similar topics. She is a very closed minded christian and criticizes me for not being a practicing christian.

but as i said before...someone please just delete this thread...it's not worth getting into it... i'm not sure why I posted it in the first place. It's something I need to just work out on my own.

Why tell your mother that you are going to meditate ? Just go ahead and try it - it will be of great benefit to you.

    Kind wishes,

    D.

    Moderator note:
Unless a thread is so offensive and detrimental to the forum, we don't delete them. They can provoke thought, cogitation and reasoning in many other ways, and are worth keeping for reflection at times.

But I can - and have - closed it, as a nod to the OP's request.
Thanks to all for trying to help, at least.
