Please help me out with a school assignment.

No, I'm not looking for an answer to a question, I'm looking for data.

I'm taking a class called 'Tests & Measurement.' The 'big project' in this class is to create a scale to measure something. Some students are doing risk taking, others are doing video games. I am making a scale and collecting data on racial and religious intolerance.

I live in the middle of Pennsylvania. There's a great quote about Pennsylvania - it's Pittsburgh and Philadelphia separated by 300 of Alabama. There isn't much religious diversity around where I live. Mostly Christian, there's a small synagogue downtown, and an Islamic 'reading room' a half-hour away. For me to collect data across most religions, I have to turn to the internet. That's the purpose of this post.

If you've got 5 minutes, it would be really great if some self-identified Buddhists could take a short online test. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3XL2KMF

Thanks

I began reading the questions then found that the test is narrow-minded in that it seems to be polling only Americans, so it's going to be a fairly biased result anyway, because I think it's insular, and doesn't allow for global contribution.

Other opinions exist other than American ones, you know.

The questions are also worded in a very hostile way.

I felt uncomfortable reading some of them.....

    Just saying.....;)

Yes, I know that most of the questions are geared towards Americans. The point of the assignment is to take two different scales of something, one measuring religious intolerance, the other measuring racial intolerance. I compare this to my scale of religious intolerance. It's all convergent and divergent validity I'm measuring.

Because I had to take two scales I didn't develop, I didn't write most of the questions on this test. Yes, I know that there are other opinions outside America, and that is awesome. I really do appreciate your comment, federica, and will at least sort the data by IP address (and therefore location) and without IP address.

    Thanks.

Do you think you're going to gain an accurate profile of religious in/tolerance?
I'm curious. It's a fascinating study, but how do you know the data will be reliable?
I wish you much luck and success in accumulating data. Should make for interesting discussion in your class....

Well, the two surveys I 'copied' from already-published literature are considered 'valid.' I thoroughly disagree with these studies methodologies, so for me the point of the assignment is to create a scale that is more valid than existing scales of religious intolerance. I'm also measuring religious tolerance as a function of a person's religion, something that I think has never been done before. It is fascinating.

I have a few hypotheses, but I really can't say them until I'm done.

I'd also like to thank you for keeping this bumped at the top of the first page. ;)

    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
    And....
    happy to oblige....

Nice to have someone on forum doing research/needing help with an assignment, who has the common courtesy and decency to be upfront with their request and reasons, and also is willing to interact and exchange information.

    Had one recently....
Wanted us to provide answers to some relatively complex and convoluted questions....
well, suffice to say I'm afraid he/she didn't get far.... :D
