If you have suffering you can't see!

Suffering blinds us!

Imagine I stab you in the foot....
You don't give a shit about if I have a headache or, if I had a bad day at work.
You ONLY care about your foot. BOOM we are all in a closed circle of selfishness, I don't blame you...

My point is, our SUFFERING inhibits our enlightenment. you get it.?! reread if not!

That's why we have to let go of suffering in order to become ONE

...when I started I thought it was:
Become ONE to conquer suffering..
It's backwards, conquer suffering - become one.

Many of you ...if you thought this way already it would seem obvious to you..

anyway we are supposed to be FEARLESS as Buddhist Monks.
we are supposed to be Calm, Patient..

you know i've realized, that some ass that doesnt give a crap about me, I shouldn't take offense...he's just in his own circle...closed circuit if you will, of suffering. It totally paralyzes him and we should be compassionate to this sort of mouse ...already trapped in a mousetrap..

as Buddhist we have to open our circuits ...and connect!!!.

or else we are ****ed in the *** for ******** **** **** ******** **** **** forever..:eek::D

Don't be a closed circuit.

one time, a neighborhood kid had a dead bee's bee stinger in his hand that was detached from its bottom. he then poked it in my arm and stung me and it hurt! so i took him down to the pond and drowned him! hahahahahahahaha! just kidding. yeah i agree thefound we should really tap into the bottom of our hearts and extend our hands in warmth and compassion to anyone who is suffering in any way big or small. otherwise, we're just devils.

hmm that's a pretty morose reply lol.

but remember when you are suffering, think of others, because we tend to become a closed circuit when WE are suffering in a way we think is bad.

Lets say this, "how many savagely depressed people, go to do volunteer work at a soup kitchen???"

    lol.... ZERO

but if they did, if they broke that closed circuit their problems and depression would fade so fast

it's a key... we gotta use that key that i have just made available to ur mind :D

I forget about thinking in terms of "suffering" these days, the wording to me seems too dramatic for all everyday moments.

    "Unsatisfactoriness" works better for me.

Anyway from what you said. I agree. Everything has a reason. My understanding these days is that if somebody messes me around, there doing it to cover something. Otherwise theres no point. Its easy to understand when you see yourself doing the same thing.

Yep, suffering can and does often paralyze us, and blinds us to other peoples "view" no matter what it is. As of yet, after 23 years of practice and not suffering as much as before i started practicing Buddhism, i still suffer. I think it is always going to be that way. Especially as i grow old(er). :) It is in accepting the fact that we all suffer that some contentment arises. Try not to be to hard on yourself about escaping suffering, it usually just makes things worse. I have found that the great virtue of "patience" goes a long way when we are not at our best....

A little suffering is good for the "soul", so to speak. If we didn't suffer visibly enough, we wouldn't turn to Buddhism. We know that we're suffering, but not the totality of it. We know if we lose our money that we'll suffer, but not that the desire to have money in the first place is the problem.

I think suffering is very good for the reason that it does break us out of our circuit. When we are creative and expansive and brilliant we are arrogant and out of touch. When we suffer we become humble and ear to the ground again.

Only if we're Mindful, Jeffrey, only if we are Mindful.

But we are making progress. The tree of awakening is the only one that doesn't die when it bares fruit... Thats how I think of it. When we try to hard we feel pressure which means the wrong touch. By letting go again and letting experience happen flow and dissolve or what ever needs to happen. In other words its no big deal. But it sure is a big drive to get free from that suffering.
