Finding a local group to learn with

edited April 2010 in Buddhism Basics
Hi, I joined the forum today after lurking for a while. I have been reading various books on Buddhism and some of the principles. So much of it has struck a chord with me that I want to learn more and bring the teachings into my daily life. Would anybody have suggestions or recommendations on the best way to find a local group that I could visit and participate with?
Any advice much appreciated. :D

    Yepp! Here: http://www.buddhanet.info/wbd/

Simply choose your country, then the state or w/e and it will give you a list of all the buddhist areas within your state. You can narrow it down by sect if you choose, but if you're a beginner, you probably don't know yet. You could try different ones out, or choose one without a given sect, or w/e. Best of luck! Also the site in itself is really good for finding info on buddhism-- check out the buddhist studies section! :)
