Hey every, just curious if anyone had seen this.

On last week's episode of south park, they showed buddha snorting coke.

That wasn't Buddha, that was Chogyam Trungpa. He was just so high he *thought* he was Buddha.
  • I know this thread is dead as hell, but:

I don't think they were attacking at all with the intent to try and offend, I think they were merely trying to prove that if any other religion has its Deity, Prophet or Creator shown on TV, even if somebody like Buddha was shown doing coke of a table, then nobody cares, its just a cartoon. But if Muhammad is shown on TV, then we are all in danger of terrorism and TV execs won't allow it to be aired.

I just wanted to give my two cents. :hiding: :hiding: :hiding:

No, what offends me is the youtube video I saw about the Buddhist temple that was bombed twice (I think in 2007). :(

Just too inform you all. Matt Stone's father tried too teach him Buddhism. Also Matt Smitth and Tray Parker prouduced some great Alan Watts animated shorts.

Sorry watching more Doctor Who. :P
  • Like Palzang said, the Buddha would just laugh. Why can't we?

Federica : Buddhism is not a religion of " blasphemous sacrileges" is it? That's not how I interpret it at all anyway. And not the religion of the sacred so much as the religion of the important.

Super Best Friends. A great episode.
  • I try to distinguish peaceful sects of Islam, like Sufis and Alevis, from Wahhabists, but I didn't take any offense to it. I don't really know enough about Muhammad to tell if he would have been offended by it or not. In my view, he could have been a true prophet to the divine who's message was corrupted into dogma by political semantics, which is the case with a lot of religions. I view the Buddha in a similar light to the Christ but really haven't looked much into Islam, so I wouldn't know.
  • love south park
  • just tried to watch the episode here http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s14e05-200

and it says that they can not stream that episode!
  • Maybe it's enough to show that one on the air; they don't want to make it worse by having it available as streaming media for those who would take offense to get all worked up about all over again.
