to what extent is the mahasi tradition based on commentaries? on what points are they in conflict or diverging with the suttas?

    I believe the mahasi tradition is Theravada and holds the commentaries in high regard.

    Two points come to mind...1. Abhidhamma 2. Dependent origination is understood to span three births.
