Whoa! Wasn't expecting this!!
Hello Everyone!! I hope the day finds you well!
My partner and I have been studying Buddhism for the past year and this past April, took the vows of refuge. Now to give you some background, growing up we really didn't have a base religion. I went to youth groups and church camps and would see people "saved" and just didn't "get it." I am not a faker so I wouldn't pretend. Well, I guess in a way I did. I thought if I did that eventually I would feel what they were feeling. <O:p></O:p>
Ok back to the present, we had the opportunity to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Bloomington Indiana. He was doing a two days discussion of the Heart Sutra. What an amazing time!! We went to the temple grounds, went to the cultural center, saw the Mandala they had made in honor of the trip and more! <O:p</O:p
When it came time for the discussion, he came out and I don't know what happened. I got emotional all of the sudden. You have to understand, that isn't me. The next day, after he was done and he was doing the closing ceremony, it happened again! <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=Picture_x0020_1 style="VISIBILITY: visible; WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 15.75pt; mso-wrap-style: square" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75" o:spid="_x0000_i1025"><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\baddingt.DOM\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif" o:title="0"></v:imagedata></v:shape> This trip has affected me in more ways than I think I can comprehend right now. I had told a friend of ours this. She is a little bit of everything! LOL (we love her! LOL Such a dear person) She said I was "shifting". I then thought is this what happens when some people get that emotion from other religions? I thought then it couldn't be.<O:p></O:p>
Has anyone else experienced this or know what I am talking about? <O:p></O:p>

Don't think too much about it! You had an amazing experience and will likely have many others!
The first time I received teachings from HHDL I had a pretty strong emotional reaction as well. I can certainly relate.
Just appreciate the experience and try to grow from it through practice.
