Toxic by Brtiney Spears - just read the lyrics! The 'guy' in my mind is called mara.

    "Toxic"

    Baby, can’t you see
    I’m calling
    A guy like you
    Should wear a warning
    It’s dangerous
    I’m fallin’

    There’s no escape
    I can’t wait
    I need a hit
    Baby, give me it
    You’re dangerous
    I’m lovin’ it

    Too high
    Can’t come down
    Losing my head
    Spinning ‘round and ‘round
    Do you feel me now

With a taste of your lips
    I’m on a ride
    You're toxic I'm slipping under
With a taste of a poison paradise
    I’m addicted to you
Don’t you know that you’re toxic
And I love what you do
Don’t you know that you’re toxic

    It’s getting late
    To give you up
    I took a sip
    From my devil's cup
    Slowly
    It’s taking over me

    Too high
    Can’t come down
    It’s in the air
    And it’s all around
    Can you feel me now

With a taste of your lips
    I’m on a ride
    You're toxic I'm slipping under
With a taste of a poison paradise
    I’m addicted to you
Don’t you know that you’re toxic
And I love what you do
Don’t you know that you’re toxic

Don't you know that you're toxic

    [x2]
With a taste of your lips
    I'm on a ride
    You're toxic I'm slipping under
With a taste of a poison paradise
    I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic

    Intoxicate me now
    With your lovin' now
    I think I'm ready now
    I think I'm ready now
    Intoxicate me now
    With your lovin' now
    I think I'm ready now

how about "do you realize?" by the Flaming Lips? That's one of my all time favorite 'Buddhist' songs.

'Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round'

great song. It's off of the Yoshimi battles the pink robots album.

This is such a coincidence... I read this thread, then a few minutes later I put down my laptop and got my guitar intending to write a song, but came across some chords that reminded me of a cover I once knew...Drive by Incubus. I was like, "that was a cool song," and looked up the tab because I wanted to relearn it. Then I realized I had forgotten the lyrics and looked them up. Wow. Such a Buddhist song. I never realized it before. :)

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I let the fear
    Take the wheel and steer
    It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
    I'll be there

So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
    It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself my light is found

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
    I'll be there

Would you choose water over wine
    Hold the wheel and drive

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
    I'll be there

Imagine that the 'guy' she is talking to represents sensual pleasure and all of the things that we cling to. That is why I said the guy's name is 'Mara'. In Buddhist cosmology, Mara was the 'demon' that tormented the Buddha during his time sitting under the Bodhi time - tempting him with sensual pleasures. He is the opposite to Buddha, and his aim is to disrupt the teachings and prevent people from reaching enlightenment.

"All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison

There are many songs on that album that describe elements of Buddhist philosophy but the title of the title song says it quite nicely.

I've often wondered how George attained such wisdom at such a young age.

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they all came from.
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go when the whole thing's done.
But no one knows for certain and so it's all the same to me.
I think I'll just let the mystery be.

Some say once you're gone you're gone forever, and some say you're gonna come back.
Some say you rest in the arms of the Saviour if in sinful ways you lack.
Some say that they're comin' back in a garden, bunch of carrots and little sweet peas.
I think I'll just let the mystery be.

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they all came from.
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go when the whole thing's done.
But no one knows for certain and so it's all the same to me.
I think I'll just let the mystery be.

    Instrumental break.

Some say they're goin' to a place called Glory and I ain't saying it ain't a fact.
But I've heard that I'm on the road to purgatory and I don't like the sound of that.
Well, I believe in love and I live my life accordingly.
But I choose to let the mystery be.

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they all came from.
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go when the whole thing's done.
But no one knows for certain and so it's all the same to me.

The Pointer Sisters sang a song "Happiness" ... when I hear it, I think of all the monks and nuns who have ever given me teachings:
I can't say that the last verse applies, unless you do a lot of STRONG re-interpretation!

I love the way you love to live
    You got life, you're inspiration
I love the way that you do
    Your heart's so freely
    You're a sweet sensation
    You're my invitation to happiness
You're full of sweet surprises happiness
    You fill my heart desire
    More, more, more and more
    And over and over again
    Keep that goodness coming

I love the way you watch the world
    Through kind eyes
That's why you're never sad, sad
Things don't bother you like dos, don'ts and whys
You hold on to the good and you let the bad go by

    Yeah, yeah
    Happiness
    I want your love forever
    Happiness
    Give me your love forever
    More, more, more and more
    And over and over again
    Keep that goodness coming

another is david byrne's cover of the cole porter song "don't fence me in".

Oh, give me land, lots of land, under starry skies above
    Don't fence me in
Let me ride thru the wide-open country that I love
    Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evening breeze
Listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever, but I ask you please
    Don't fence me in
    Don't fence me in

    Just turn me loose
Let me straddle my old saddle underneath the western skies
    On my cayuse
Let me wander over yonder till I see the mountains rise
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
Gaze at the moon until I loose my senses
I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
    Don't fence me in
    Don't fence me in
