I'll share with you two experiences.

My father died when I was fourteen, I remember a couple of years later that I had a dream where he hugged me and I interpreted it as him saying goodbye. The dream was incredibly vivid to the point that I could smell him, and feel his hug as though I were awake. If I'm honest I feel the dream helped me quite a lot with dealing with his death

My grandmother died a few years ago and unfortunately she developed severe dementia before she died. She would see me as my uncle (her son) and talk to me as such, as well as watch invisible children walk around the room and hold conversations with them.

These days, my belief is that the mind is the creator of all experience. Just because something seems real, like the children my grandmother saw, doesn't make them real. And because something is comforting like my dream, doesn't actually make it a visitation from the dead.

Not that this decreases the experience any, I just think that we often don't give the mind the credit it is due.

This is actually a good analysis of what we consider to be the "real world" as well.

Nice piece, and for all we know, true. I have seen and heard the stories recanted, and interesting subject to be sure!
