Hello,

I am new to this forum.:)

I practiced 20 minutes of 'doing nothing', which is to just sit down and not get identified with the thought process. No control or suppression, just simple non-identification with the mind.

Nothing happened, no experience during or after twenty minutes. So what am I to do? Do I just go on doing it every day, hoping to chance upon something some day? Are there signposts along the way?

    What were you going for? Were you expecting something? If so, you're very likely to be disappointed with meditation. The point of meditation is to meditate. Nothing more. Whatever is, is.

    Just keep going.

    OP: Meditation isn't to do nothing, or to not think. At least not Buddhist meditation. Buddhist meditation is to calm the mind and free it of all distractions, and then to be able to focus with one-pointedness upon the teachings and your life experiences. When this come together with absolute clarity there is insight gained, and eventually awakening.
