tooth ache

edited October 2010 in Buddhism Basics
I've needed to get a root canal for quite some time now but haven't been able to afford it and wow my tooth is reaaaaally hurting me. Hard to just passively observe the feeling.

Is there not a dentist that would let you make payments? What about a university clinic? I would think there would be a concern about infection.

Dentist, yes. But for some quick pain relief go get some oil of clove.

Good point. At least the clove oil will ease the pain a bit while you find a dentist.I'm guessing you don't want to be told to just observe the nature of the pain.:(

Although it is hard, I do think that I should try to observe it passively, at least to the best of my ability. Every sensation is an opportunity for insight. As I said though, difficult with pain.

I'd count that as destructive pain, since you can easily get an infection. Maybe this isn't the best opportunity to observe pain.

I'm gonna see if, until I get some insurance coming through, the dentist will prescribe me some pain killers. Yay vicodin.
