Official "Anything But Masturbation " Thread

Hi. This thread is for those who aren't comfortable talking about masturbation for WHATEVER personal reason they don't care to disclose.

However, if anyone is adamant about discussing it (the unmentionable) **shrugs shoulders**

Anywhow, wot's on me mind right now is the impending [sad] election.

Here's my take:

I’ll sure be glad when this derned election is over. Not expecting a good outcome, but am so tired of all the hoopla and the lies. Down here in my Congressional District (John Spratt’s) the Democrats aren’t even addressing the stupid and repugnant Republican slogans. The other day I spoke with a lifelong Democrat who says she will vote against Spratt, due to the Republican slogan that "Spratt always votes the Party line with Nancy Pelosi." I asked her what she didn’t like about Pelosi and she said she really liked Nancy Pelosi. (Go figure!) *I tried to explain to her that the Republican line that Spratt didn’t think for himself was just a Republican slogan aimed at getting unreflective people’s votes. She couldn’t see my point. (Go figure!) *

Then she brought up his health.

Now the woman I’m referring to is a health worker who doesn’t know the diff between Parkinson’s and Alzheimers and said that he should be disqualified on the matter of his health status alone. *I pointed out to her that he was not applying to be an airline pilot and that maybe having someone closer to the the human condition might not be such a bad thing, afterall. *I said I wouldn’t want to be treated by a nurse or a doctor that had never gotten sick. She said she wouldn’t want a doctor with Alzheimers operating on her, either. (Especially not Surgeon John Spratt???) *(Go figure???) At this point I should have told her that she had finally convinced me not to vote for Spratt, but I thought better and said I’d just vote to cancel her vote out.

At least in the the USA and other countries we have some sort of choice.Sure the choices may not always be that great but choice never the less.
Spare a thought for another election about to take place. Will the people of Myanmar get the government that they vote for on november 7.This is one general election where I think we all know which generals will be elected.

True, Reverend Nanadhaja. However, it doesn't help that one of the oldest democracies in the world (if not the oldest), namely the USA, does not allow international groups in to monitor our "free and fair" elections.

BTW, the silly topic name for this thread is inspired by a thread on masturbation going on here where a lot of political debate has been entered into, and some have objected. Forgive me, but this strikes me as hilarious. Here's one of my puzzlements:

Hey, Isn't it time to close this silly thread? Please.

I think it serves no further use, as the events on the "parallel thread" have already transpired.

No offense to Palzang-La, because it is so fun to be silly. After all, I was the one so silly as to start this goofy thread. Also, no offense is meant to myself by myself, anyways.

Correct. The USA is a representative republic, not a democracy, and we should be very happy that it is not a democracy. If it were, odds are that slavery would have remained legal, women would still not be allowed to vote, and "freedom of religion" would mean freedom to worship the way the Puritans felt was appropriate.

The irony of discussing democracy, the USA and masturbation in the same thread.

From memory, I believe the Isle of Man is the oldest democracy in the world although I'm unaware if there is any debate on whether this is the case or not.

Democracy in the USA and UK just now is looking like a failed concept.....its run on the basis of supporting global capitalist interests. Governments tend to do the minimum they need to do to retain votes and ignore the people. The least educated in society, the ones without jobs, more likely to be involved in crime and the most in need of compassion are the least likely to vote.

Freedom to believe what you like is really important.....but this freedom is probably abused by the majority.....freedom to bear arms, freedom to think its ok to drive a gas guzzling car, freedom to buy pizza wrapped in 5 layers of packaging, freedom to express dangerous views about Islam, freedom for individuals with all the afore mentioned views to own massive TV networks.

I've been on the Burmese border and met people who's families have died because of war, have every reason to hate and have very few possessions. I've also been in Nashville, in the middle of the bible belt, and it made me far more uncomfortable....... obesity, dogmatic and misguided religious views, divided society, racism.

When the majority are given the freedom to choose, most will take the path of least resistance or for self-gain. I suppose autocracies just give less opportunity for all of society to be greedy.

That is why I find sanctuary in The Three Jewels :)
