What do you guys think about it? Before I really got into buddhism and I got very much into my own spiritual journey, very much through my own effort, what I landed on was very consistent with what I know of the consciousness only school of buddhism. I kind of forgot about it since i've gotten into my study of buddhism, but i'm reading a book by the dalai lama and he references the unraveling of the thought sutra, or The Lankavatara Sutra, a sutra heavily used by the consciousness only school. I just started reading it, but figured i'd start a thread about it so I can discuss as I read.

I think mindfulness/meditation is all about bringing what is unconscious to a conscious level. And you choose what you want to improve based on personal (or buddhist as they case may be) ethics. That which cannot be improved you learn how to come to grips with.
I think the growing of consciousness is what brings about true wisdom.
I don't know if I'm answering the question correctly.
