    The middle path, JohnnyB

    Live life! Enjoy it! Become attached and become unattached. It's all experience. Live, breathe, stop breathing, die. Somewhere in the middle is true peace.

    I'd just love to know where on earth anyone gets an idea like this.....!
    How many Buddhists do you know?
    And how many of these do you know who 'live a lonely and single life'?
    Single at times, perhaps, yes, but lonely? I doubt it...
    I have been single. I have even been lonely in a relationship;
    But Buddhist and lonely? Never!

    Love is an attachment. but a non-clinging, unconditional Love is pure Joy.

    The best love is without attachment.

    Exactly, Love without attachment is possible and is encouraged.

    I think that Buddhism actually encourages loving relationships. Because of the belief that nothing is permanent and that the present is to be cherished, it "promotes" love and good behavior towards other human beings. When we act in this way, we're not doing things that are hurtful to those we love. As Buddhists, we are opening our hearts to people. We can only be lonely if we choose to be so...by closing our hearts and not letting people in.
