Trouble with NKT?

the only buddhist center in my area (harrisburg PA) is a NKT center, and I hear that is very bad, almost like a clut. Is it worth going there to get teachings, or would I be able to get higher reaalizations at my house? thank you :)

    A 'clut'....?
    :D

New look, new methods and means, new members... same old same old discussions!

Seeker, there is much controversy surrounding NKT.
Some like it, some don't, some are vehemently opposed, some are easy-going.

Just be open, listen to all opinions and formulate your own conclusions.
  • haha sorry for my spelling im like half awake. But thank you! I think I'm going to stay away and practice on my own.
  • Please do a search for other NKT threads here before starting yet another one.

    Thanks.
  • again, im very sorry

You shouldnt believe everything you hear this is unwise. Been going to an NKT centre for the past 15 years and have had no troubles only good Dharma teachings :)
  • Yes, it's very clutish :) I also have only an NKT center. I've been a couple of times, and regardless of its controversy, I simply didn't like it. People were a bit stand-offish, and it had a little too much quasi-"Christian" "happy-happy" music for my taste.
  • Probably every center is different, you have to check it out on your own and see. There's info on it on the internet. I read that in England, they tend to be pretty aggressive in terms of soliciting large donations from members. But I haven't heard that that's the case in the US. Best to do your own research, and test the waters at your local center. I don't think NKT is alone in being controversial.

Aggresive in soliciting donations ? Ive never experienced this. There are alot of rumours spread over the last 10 or so years that have little or no truth to them what so ever, I would reconmend every logical Buddhist or wannabe test the old fashion way without believing gossip and rumours.
