There is the true or false thread that is rather fun, it gets to know each of us a little more personally, so I would like to do the same but in a different manner.

If there is anything you have to confess of doing recently, anything you have done that was hilarious, something that maybe transpired and had an impact on your day, or even random remarks.

I shall make one now, I wish kurt cobaine was still alive as I KNOW he would have gone on to make some amazing music. I also would not have minded if i was him.

I recently learned that hobos live on the island in the river of my town.

A lady came into our shop (I run an Italian retail food shop, with cafe/delicatessen incorporated) and she asked, "Do you have preserved lemons?"
    I replied -
"No, that's more Moroccan, but I do have a good recipe for Moroccan preserved lemons, which do take a while, lemons in paprika, preserved in oil, which takes less time, and a cheat's 'preserved lemon' which works adequately if you need something within 24 hours...."
She slammed her palm on the counter, turned to her friend, and declared,
"You see? I'm telling you, there is no other place in this town where you can get this quality of caring and attentive service. Nowhere else. The staff are polite, kind and they're always smiling. I tell you, it's brilliant!"
They stayed for coffee and lunch - and she got the recipes.
    Exit one very satisfied customer.
    It made my day!
  • That is great fedi, these things happen in life and sometimes they are negative and positive.

Today I met a southern korean girl who was sick, maybe she had malaria i do not know. she needed to travel 400km but did not know how to. So I took her to the agency, took ger to the waiting area and tat was that, good bye. I exchanged emails though `:) she seems like such a genuine, wonderful person
  • My girlfriend and I stopped at a little cafe on the beach to sit down and relax for a while. This was more than a couple of years ago when I didn't have a job, so I was kind of counting every dollar in my head and keeping the order kind of minimalist. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't being cheap, I just has a certain amount of change in my pocket and I didn't want to go over it.

There was a lady sitting in another corner, but we didn't really pay much attention to anyone or anything else. A short while later she paid for her coffee and left.

When I went to pay for our hot chocolate and whatever else we had, I was told "it has been taken care of". I was kind of confused, so she explained that 'someone' already paid for that order.

This was way before I cared about kindness or had any idea why anyone would do such a thing. It was kind of a slap in the face saying "hey, not everyone is a jerk, jerk".

Anyway, I found that really cool that she didn't say anything, she didn't make her good deed known, she didn't want anything in return, it was just a pure altruistic act. It was inspiring to me.
  • I had to get a tire replaced under warranty. The establishment that had originally installed the tires was extremely busy, and had had three technicians call in or be unable to get in due to snow. The manager kept apologizing, and I kept telling him that it was okay, and that if I had to take the new tire and go to their other location to get it installed, it would be just fine. He was amazed, since he said most people tend to get indignant and huffy about things like that. I told him life is too short to get indignant and huffy over a tire. :)
  • When I was at the grocery store check out, an elderly woman gave me a coupon and said, "Looks like you have enough -today's the last day for it." I thanked her and offered one in exchange but she declined. Our local grocery chain rewards customers with $$ off on their next purchase. The coupon was for $10 and I felt bad taking it. I told the clerk that I would use it on a charity meal that the store offered to the local food pantry. I added my own coupon and still got $2 off my order. I had intended to purchase one of the meals when I walked past the display- it was a pleasant coincidence. :)
  • I just ate some Doritos Cheeseburger-flavored nachos, and really really enjoyed them.
  • It is so interesting to hear of these situations that arise in peoples lives, cause and affect, kamma. I have actually made a friend from that korean girl, she was so good hearted and I HAD to help, my morals and beliefs etc...

    Karma man. Karma :)
  • I'm getting ready to get on a plane and jet off to Belize for a week. And I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. :)

Tanha man. Tanha. I knew I didn't need them, wasn't particularly hungry, but I enjoyed them and I deliberately chose to eat them knowing that. I guess it was mindful indulgence. They tasted just like McDonalds' double cheeseburgers, which blew my mind.
  • Ah, so totally a product of the petrochemical industry then, eh? :)
  • Petrochemical industry?
  • Today I got up then biked twenty miles, I was indescribably hungry afterwards. I went out to walk to my girlfriend's mom's house looking for food and internet. I slipped on ice several times but I fell not once. When I arrived there was an entire chicken cooked and I feasted like a beast. Life is sweet.
  • today i ate awith 9 monks, got blessed, some advice and then offered to stay at with them for a few days when I am ready :)

I went out ...looking for food and internet.
Truly, a commentary on modern life. The two most necessary things in life: food and internet :)
    Petrochemical industry?
Yes. "Food" that is totally man-made, with "flavor" brought to you by the chemical industry. You'd be amazed how much of what goes into your mouth (esp stuff like what you ate) originates as crude oil. It's pretty frightening.
  • yuck

I hear that the four most paramount inventions of all time were:
    1. the wheel
    2. the plow
    3. the printing-press
    4. the internet
