Newbie In Need Of Help

edited December 2010 in Buddhism Basics
I posted here about my interest in becoming a buddhist. I still have that interest but had become very interested in the Rastafarian religion native to my culture. This isn't some kind of project for me this is what "I" would like to be. So I'm asking you to help me build this from the ground up again please.

AFAIK, Rastafarian started as a religious mvmt in the 1930s. It's based on Christianity. It incorporates cannabis use.
Buddhism predates even Christianity, does not promote a god, praises middle way (no intoxicants). That's quite a difference. :-/ I dunno.
  • I know that there is quite a difference but everything can be intertwined when you look at it from a different angle. Not all Rastas actually smoke cannabis some use being a rasta as an excuse to use cannabis.
  • All paths are interconnected when you look at it from the right angle. Just follow your heart. Nothing wrong with a little cannabis use anyways imo. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. Perhaps you will learn in the long run that it is not beneficial to you. But if you think it is right now no need to lie to yourself in order to conform to "buddhism."
