Stylish Buddhist gifts

edited January 2011 in Buddhism Basics
Hi all. This is Arnold from Hong Kong. My sister has just launched a start-up company selling stylish Buddhist gifts. She hopes to promote Buddhism to the general public, particularly to the younger generations, just as many Christian do by giving Christian gifts to Christian and non-Christian friends. As this is just a start-up company, she wants to hear feedback from more fellow Buddhists on her company at (WEB LINK DELETED.PLEASE CONTACT POSTER DIRECTLY.)

(....sorry to make this really looks like a spam...but I just want to help her out)

Also, she has created a group at facebook (FACEBOOK LINK DELETED. PLEASE CONTACT POSTER DIRECTLY.) where she posts Buddhist stories, Vegetarian Recipe etc(though many of them are written in Chinese). Hope you all could drop by and comment :)

  • A nice set of bowls or one bowl. For a shrine. These in my sangha symbolize various offerings to a guest. For example for thirst, then to wash the feet. Etc. Its supposed to be eight bowls but sometimes traditionally you use 7 and another object to represent the 8th.

A picture frame small for a picture of spiritual teacher.

    A buddha for shrine.

Incense and essential oils with aroma lamp. To stimulate during meditation.
A timer with a gong sound (these exist). CD of soothing music or dharma teaching.

Books on buddhism. You have buddhists walking in the store.

Other small attractive objects such as shells bits of crystal decorative plates for offerings for a shrine. A candle holder with snuffer.
  • @ Jeffery. Thanks for your advice. She is also thinking about selling incense and essential oils from Japan soon (as their quality are among the best in the world). But the problem is that she needs to go to Japan to buy them as most Japanese business owners, especially those selling traditional gifts, are not comfortable to do business on in the internet. Anyway, I will forward your advice to her. Many thanks!

Perhaps to prevent this from becoming a veritable spam post, Arnold, please supply all information to those interested by PM's. All interested parties will contact you....

Advertising such details is inadvisable, and not only from a spamming PoV. It exposes private contact details and information which might be open to abuse by people cruising the internet and just 'googling'.....However commercial a venture this might be, it is still best to approach people - and to be approached - discreetly.
Would all other members interested, please contact Arnold privately, for further info, off forum.

    Many thanks.
