Qualities of a respectable friend.
Namaste! What exactly are things that I should do, from a buddhist perspective, (or any good-natured way) for friends and people in general?
Besides being kind and polite and helping- when they do unskilful things, what should I do? Or, when they gossip or are angry and curse, etc?
I would like to know how to better treat people, beyond what I already do. And how to be cheerful when speaking: sometimes I say kind things, but people take it sarcastically because I say it with a monotone voice. It's become a habit.

the Sigalovada Sutta (link below) has a detailed discussion about the qualities of true friends & false friends (2nd section) then a lengthy discussion about the six kinds (directions) of social relationships (3rd section)
the Sigalovada Sutta is the most essential & core teaching in the scriptures for laypeople
best wishes
