Why is it that I only get the short reply interface..?

I only get the short reply interface a small text box and then I can't see a long posts lower portion. And I can't use smileys.

    I have the same problem with the very bottom of the text being difficult to see, so I just add two extra spaces below where I'm writing so I can see the words.
