Living with none buddhists

edited February 2011 in Buddhism Basics
Hey everyone.
So, I thought I had seen a thread of that nature on here, but I can't find it now. So... basically I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on how to live with none Buddhists.

Maybe an administrator can merge this thread with the "Flames" one.
  • I think the "Flames" thread is about living with fundamentalist Christians?

No, merging threads is not an option.

You live with non-buddhists in exactly the same way you would live with Buddhists. Respectfully, and mindfully.

    Why differentiate?
First and foremost, they're humans, just like you.
  • Yeah. I didn't mean it so much as that.... like living with Christians or whatever... but rather how to get past everyone's differences. I don't know. Maybe this is pointless.
  • It's not pointless, but it is simple. Treat everyone in a way that is beneficial for them. Act in a way that is beneficial for yourself as well. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Golden rule. But consider the fact that they may have different preferences and ideas, as well.
  • It can just be hard I guess with like people not understanding your beliefs and such.
    Don't feel holier than them.
Yeah, I understand that, but sometimes they think I FEEL holier than them because I would say something like "It's fine, you don't have to get mad." Even when I am not trying to imply that I am better.
