Sayadaw U Pandita: Hot or Not?

Any thoughts, experiences or facts about his teachings, his approach and/or his impact on Buddhism?

I'm reading his online book "In This Very Life".

Any other readings/multimedia by him that you recommend?

His meditation style seems very peculiar, with a strong emphasis on "aiming" your concentration. I experimented with increasing the "aiming" aspect of my counting and mental noting and noticed much stronger concentration much more quickly. However, I do wonder if there are any downsides to this.

  • Hmm, I just know he leads a meditation class over here in Melbourne on Thursdays. One day I might go check it out.

  • Wow, that's great. He's definitely a teacher I would want to check out.

    He promotes a very "active" meditation style. For example, he clearly states that one should look for impermanence rather than to wait for it to come as an insight.
