To avoid what is unskilful,
To purify the mind;
This is the Teaching of all the Buddhas"
5 precepts: Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not lie, Do not commit sexual misconduct, Do not ingest intoxicants
5 Aggregates giving rise to the illusion of self: Form, Feeling, Consciousness, Perception, Volition
They are really important to practice and it is all about the right touch in dharma:
"... what do you think: when the strings of your [lute] were neither too taut nor too loose, but tuned to be right on pitch, was your [lute] in tune & playable?"
"Yes, lord."
"In the same way, Sona, over-aroused persistence leads to restlessness, overly slack persistence leads to laziness. Thus you should determine the right pitch for your persistence, attune the pitch of the [five] faculties [to that], and there pick up your theme."[8][9]
